BABY YERUSHA ARRIVES.....

3 January 2013 -  makes Geo George, our Director of Finance & Business Support a very proud and happy man as he sees the arrival of his daughter, the new addition to his family Eluvathingal Yerusha Geo. She will be dearly known to the family as Yerusha. What a unique name. We take this time to wish Geo and his wife, all the pleasure life can bring with this little bundle of joy. Enjoy your journey of parenthood once again and have fun, this time with a girl. And for baby Yerusha welcome to the world little one, it is a place of delights and wonders and much to experience. Congratulations from All Of Us.

SO WHAT WAS IN THE SOCKS THIS YEAR?

The Christmas season might be famous for carols and coloured lights where you're from, but it's also the perfect time to explore some of the traditions experienced by communities that celebrates them annually. What better excuse when you work in an international and multi cultured environment. This year Caroline, Hotel Manager introduced us to the tradition of the "Adventskalendar". An Adventskalendar or also known as the Christmas calendar is available in various forms and colours, patterns, shapes and sizes, but generally shows the remaining days until Christmas to, or from one of these. Each time we opened a door on this calendar after our morning meeting, we took turns to relish a chocolate surprise that we picked out of it.

 

On 9 December 2012, we then arrived at Caroline's place for a gathering to mark Christmas for 2012 at Nikki Beach Resort & Spa, The Pearl Qatar. With Christmas Carols on the background and lots of delicacies to indulge in, we all had a merry time opening up presents from Secret Santa.

AREN'T BIRTHDAYS & FUN SYNONYMOUS

Birthdays are possibly one of those most universal celebrations that majority of the individuals look forward to and use as a valid excuse to have a good time. Birthday wishes definitely adds cheer to the day. So in NBRSTPQ, with just 7 of us around, we try very hard to make this day as special and as memorable as possible. Aside having this day declared off for the person who is celebrating his/her birthday, which is a perk in itself, we try very hard to make the day for each and everyone celebrating in the team different with a surprise element added to it. Thus far, it had been quite a success story. 

 

Each birthday is made special with a birthday greeting card, a nice yummy cake and some creative decoration that enhances the atmosphere and mood of the day. Hope everyone has had a blessed and exciting birthday to mark your respective days in 2012. Happy Birthday to All Once Again and we hope you have been able to find some time to celebrate with friends, family, colleagues or loved ones on this special day.

 

 

BOWLING FRENZY AT STRIKE DOHA

10 June 2012, was a memorable evening for most of us who attended the bowling frenzy at Strike, on the ground floor of city centre. It was a small cozy 8 lane alley in psychadellic colours with flourescent bowling balls marking the various weights on it. The eleven musketeers of the NBRS TPQ team got into competition, Front of House versus Heart of House, the defeated team promising the winning team, a delightful treat to gelato.

There was such a roar at the bowling alley as each of us demostrated our style, charisma and talent at the shot we took..... some bringing on the Strike 2 times in a row, others rolling the balls at such speed that the pins had such a startle. What impact! What energy! The thunderous sound of bowling balls kncoking down strike after strike was a marvel to watch occassionally.

The 2 hour evening ended with the Heart of House team winning the bowling frenzy scoring a total of 1387   with the top bowler for the evening being our IT & Systems Manager, Ivo Carassco with an accummulated score of 360. All good events have to come to and end but stay tuned and we see you at our next Talent Resources & Development event.

NEW HIRE ORIENTATION - The Very First One

8 April 2012 – marked yet another milestone on our Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts and the Nikki Beach Resort & Spa, The Pearl Qatar calendar. With 12 talents on board, we had the opportunity to steer our very first orientation which took place at the Alfardan Towers from 8am to 5pm. The orientation coincided with Easter and as such all associates at the beginning of the session enjoyed a personalized treat of chocolate bunnies with their names mentioned on the bunny necklace. Regional Director of Talent Resources & Development then welcomed the participants and handed the floor over to the Hotel Manager, Caroline Filtzinger who set her expectations of working with this team moving forward. Caroline thanked some of the individuals who have been here since the conceptualization.

"Everyone here, along with other associates who will soon join us will play a crucial role with the first property that Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts is due to open here in Qatar. Opening a hotel always brings enormous challenges and unforgettable experiences, operational or simply personal; so, it is on us to grow as a family to guarantee success along the way for the hotel and ourselves.” Caroline said.

White was the theme of the day – in true Nikki style and it was indeed nice to see how each and everyone had made a conscious effort to keep to the theme. The day covered a collaborative session by the Regional Directors on Corporate Branding, followed by property branding, Nikki look and fit as well as Forms & Schedules that associates needed to master for their day to day needs with Talent Resources. An interactive BINGO further enhanced the mood in the room and allowed everyone to get to know each other on a better note.

Tuncay Senli, Group Director of F&B who was also present at this session shared with us the F&B concepts and conceptualization which was enlightening as he was one of the pioneers who had been working on this project since it was initiated. It was definitely insightful to hear it from the horse’s mouth, as one would say.

The highlight of the evening was the photo frame with a group picture which was presented to each and everyone with a thank you letter recapping what was shared during the day’s session. Hot as it gets from the oven, they were memories from the lunch hour photo shoot at the Corniche in Doha.

TALENT CASTING - We Are Trendy

12^th and 13^th December 2011 marked history on the calendar of Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts, where Nikki Beach Resort & Spa, our first glamorous upcoming lifestyle destination resort located on the Pearl Qatar conducted its Talent Casting & Interview at the Dubai Marina Yacht Club. This talent casting was the first of its kind in the Middle East region where we used an unconventional method of audition and talent shows to identify talents with confidence, personality and behavior which we deemed the Nikki Fit.

Our Regional Director of Talent Resources & Development, Nanthini Sathasivam mentioned to the candidates that identifying the Nikki Fit is crucial to delivering the Nikki Promise to our guests when we will open our first resort next year in 2012. She further said that we aim to be different and bring something new to the industry. We would like our talents to be part of a cutting edge team and want them to already experience the flavor of high energy during this casting event.  The ambience and setup of this event has been carefully picked to provide the atmosphere closest to what we shall have at the Nikki Beach Resort & Spa on The Pearl Qatar. This would include the marina complimented by a white sleek and chic theme, inspired by the unique "Nikki White Party". Our Talent Casting is based on special invitation only and everyone who attends this event is already a winner.

Nanthini added that “Talents should not feel disappointed if not selected.” She says,  “the company believes in developing potential talents within the industry through this experience. Everyone has a different sense of uniqueness and level of readiness when they perform and there shall always be another opportunity to stage it during our next casting. All talents who did not make it to the selection this round are automatically invited to our next event.”

This breakthrough indeed brought multiple talents through the doors and the roaring event encapsulated Hotelier Middle East who were there to interview us. It was different, lively and certainly trendsetting with over 100 pre-shortlisted candidates attending the event providing us an opportunity to identify the cream of the crop with multiple talents and nationality for our very first property.

The candidates who showcased their talents that evening were assessed by Claudio Roscigno, Regional Director of Sales & Marketing, Daniele Vastolo, Group Director of Operations and Nanthini Sathasivam, Regional Director of Talent Resources & Development. Mr Tuncay Senli, Group Director of Food & Beverage joined us for the technical sessions the following day.
